Conyers asks “what good is reading the bill?”
File this at the very tippy tip top on the What’s Wrong with Congress list.
Conyers was trying to wag his finger at the GOP, but ended up revealing the problem with our current elected officials:
“I love these members, they get up and say, ‘Read the bill,’” said Conyers.
“What good is reading the bill if it’s a thousand pages and you don’t have two days and two lawyers to find out what it means after you read the bill?”
Maybe we should stop having votes on 1,000 page bills in such a hurry. After all, it was Obama who said we need to take our time.
Of course, when you’re talking about the health care bill, I can understand why they don’t want people to read it. Ann Coulter has an excellent question: if health insurance is so important, then why does government mandate insurance coverage for so many elective procedures?
