Oklahoma passes law affirming sovreignty

May 6, 2009

From HotAir: The Oklahoma legislature overrode their governor’s veto of a bill reaffirming states rights. The bill calls for the Federal government to stop activities that are beyond the scope of its powers.

Of course, Oklahoma still receives Federal dollars (you know, OUR dollars) for all sorts of stuff. But maybe this will be a step towards getting Uncle Sam out of our schools, stores, farms, and homes. Will Oklahoma start turning down more federal money? I know some states, including Minnesota, Utah, New Hampshire and my own Virginia, are already looking at getting off the No Child Left Behind gravy train. Uncle Sam generally attaches lots of strings to Federal projects. Here’s hoping that 10th Amendment bills catch on, and spark some real state-level resistance to Washington interference.
